On Monday, May 27, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2092 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

at the Riga airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country for Turkey, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Port of Liepāja, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine (seafarer), as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; while at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and one – of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Russian, one – of Ukraine and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Russia and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia (female)

at the Riga airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia (female), who did not have the other parent's notarised authorisation for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons -  four citizens of Estonia, three - of Kazakhstan, two – of Russia, one - of Latvia and one – of Vietnam.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova.
