On Sunday, May 28, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3559 persons have been stopped this year. 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 28, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document and to three citizens of Georgia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Ukraine, one – of India and one – of Georgia were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free-regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Manchester without valid travel document (the document has expired), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Latvia, four - of Belarus, three – of Estonia, one - of Russia, one – of Italy, one – of Israel, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Kosovo, one – of Serbia and one – of Tajikistan.
