On Tuesday, May 28, 3 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2095 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country.
27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Azerbaijan entering Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Azerbaijan International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized within the framework of the administrative offence proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners have a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; while at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons.

three citizens of Azerbaijan were detected at the Riga airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - two citizens of Pakistan and one – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, one – of Georgia, one – of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
