On Wednesday, May 3, 77 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2239 persons have been stopped during this year. 175 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country.
40 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 22 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to eight citizens of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry, as well as to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. Seven more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners
five citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia and one - of Belarus were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Antalya without valid travel document (the document is invalid due to a change of surname), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 citizens of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, two – of Belarus, two – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Austria, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of German and one - of Ukraine.
