On Tuesday, May 30, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3592 persons have been stopped this year. 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 30, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one - Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to six citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova and one – of Armenia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free-regime were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – one citizen of Lithuania, one – of India, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of USA, one – of Israel, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Moldova.
