On Wednesday, May 31, 13 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3605 persons have been stopped this year. 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On May 31, officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Silene, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Dubai, who did not have parents’ (Latvian citizens) notarized consent for the child's departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of German.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Kirgizstan, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova and one – of Estonia.
