On Friday, May 31, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2138 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners have already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two - of Tajikistan, two – of Georgia and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Riga airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Georgia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 0 persons.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Italy, one - of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
