On Friday, May 5, 95 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2442 persons have been stopped during this year. 175 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 5, officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country.
17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Moldova was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa). Person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Tbilisi, who did not have the second parent's notarized consent for the child's departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one - of Latvia, one – of Georgia, one – of Israel, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Ukraine.
