On Sunday, May 7, 65 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2565 persons have been stopped during this year. 177 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 7, officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Grebņeva Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- 1 wanted persons was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Berlin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Silene, the Pededze and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Israel and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay, as well as to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova, one – of India and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, and three minor citizens of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who did not have their parent's notarized consent for the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Estonia, one – of Belarus, one – of Georgia and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, six - of Moldova, five – of Lithuania, three – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia and two – of Poland.
