On Thursday, May 7, 3 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1675 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia, one - of Moldova and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Serbia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Russia and two – of Great Britain were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport and Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime. Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for England without valid for travelling to England documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons - four citizens of Estonia, three - of Russia and two – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, eight – of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Kyrgyzstan.
