On Thursday, May 9, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1692 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 9 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country.
10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan driving licence, was detected. The criminal proceeding were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one - of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Belarus due to security reasons. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Mongolia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - one citizen of Latvia, one - of Russia, one - of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Georgia and one – of Germany.
