On February 21-23, 2023 the Chiefs of Border Guard authorities of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia meet in the Republic of Latvia.

Within the framework of the visit, the situation at the external borders and within countries will be discussed, tripartite cooperation and information exchange mechanisms will be assessed to successfully combat potential external threats.

The Parties will analyze the implementation of the measures set out in the Action Plan 2020 of the Border Guard Sub-Committee of the Baltic Council of Ministers and approve the Action Plan 2023.

Foreign representatives will also be presented with the results of the activities of the State Border Guard Liaison Officers in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in 2022.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of delegations will visit the Robežnieki Border Surveillance Unit of the Daugavpils Board of the State Border Guard and the Pāternieki I Category Border Control Point in order to gain an insight into the real situation on the Latvian-Belarusian state border and to view the built fundamental fence.

The Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM), established on June 13, 1994, is an institution for governmental co-operation between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. It is charged with ensuring the continuity of cooperation at the executive level of the states. In 2022, Latvia was the country holding the Presidency of the BCM. In 2023, the Presidency is transferred to Estonia.
