On September 13 - 16, 2022, a meeting between the Chief of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia, General Guntis Pujāts, and the Head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Rosian Vasiloi, takes place in Latvia.
During the meeting, both sides will discuss the current situation on the borders, its development trends, and present institutions’ operational results; consider possible support for the Moldovan side in the field of personal training and exchange of experience in matters related to the management of migration flows; as well as evaluate possible bilateral and multilateral mechanisms of cooperation; opportunities for the implementation of joint projects; and approve the bilateral cooperation plan for 2023.
The Moldovan delegation will visit the Accommodation Center for Detained Foreigners “Mucenieki” of the Riga Board, in order to get familiar with the Center’s equipment and furnishings, as well as the placement and accommodation of detained foreigners.
In addition, a visit to the Ventspils Board is planned, during which the work of the Maritime Operations Coordination Center will be presented to the delegation. Moreover, the Moldovan delegation will be introduced to the tactical and practical capabilities of the vessels of the State Border Guard for conducting maritime border surveillance, providing support to other structural units and cooperation institutions of the State Border Guard. At the end, a delegation will be invited to participate in the search and rescue operation (SAR) which will be demonstrated in the Baltic Sea.
The meeting is organized within the framework of the Cooperation Plan between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova for the year 2022.
