On Thursday, November 10, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 45 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

23 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one wanted person has been detained

one citizen of Latvia entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected at the Ventspils Department during a check of the passenger lists. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to eight foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Pāternieki” and the “Riga” Airport border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of a valid visa or residence permit; three citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Serbia, one citizen of Georgia, and one citizen of Azerbaijan, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. One citizen of Moldova was denied entry into the Republic of Latvia, as the foreigner is prohibited to travel and stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries. People were returned to their countries of origin.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by two foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine and one citizen of Uzbekistan were detected at the “Terehova” and the “Riga” Airport border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeding the duration of stay specified in a visa or a visa free regime). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations by citizen of Uzbekistan were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the “Riga” Airport border control point, two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid travel documents required for entering Great Britain were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by nine persons - two citizens of Russia, two citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Lithuania, and one citizen of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Lithuania, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Israel, and one citizen of Ukraine.
