On Saturday, November 11, 71 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13409 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 412 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 11, officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure. 

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Estonia and one - of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Moldova.
