On Monday, November 11, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5257 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Georgia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one - of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

three citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for United Kingdom, whose travel document was not valid to travel to United Kingdom, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of Tajikistan and one - of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two - of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one – of France, one – of Great Britain and one – of Germany.
