On Tuesday, November 12, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5265 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus, two – of Ukraine and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Canada, one – of Ukraine, one - of Kirgizstan and one – of the Philippines were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Cyprus, who was prohibited from leaving the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - two citizens of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one - of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Romania.
