On Friday, November 17, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13547 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 17, officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay and to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – three citizens of Latvia, two -  of Russia, two – of Estonia, two - of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Belarus, one – of India and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Lithuania and one – of Slovakia.
