On Sunday, November 19, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13595 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 19, officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit and to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

five citizens of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by four citizens of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Serbia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Georgia, one – of Macedonia, one – of German, one – of Sweden and one – of Kirgizstan.
