On Tuesday, November 21, 37 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13661 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 21, officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Serbia, who presented to border guards a forged Serbian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, 1 citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The person was returned to the country of departure. 

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Estonia, two – of Iran, two – of Ukraine, one – of Turkmenistan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – of Great Britain and one – of Sweden.
