On Friday, November 22, 5 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5288 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country.
17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen (female) entering from Germany, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, two – of Belarus, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Kyrgyzstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - one citizen of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Hungary and one - of Germany.
