On Thursday, November 23, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13671 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 23, officials of the State Border Guard detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kirgizstan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Russia, one -  of Croatia, one – of Turkey and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Ukraine.
