On Saturday, November 23, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5296 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of passengers departing by ferry, one Lithuanian citizen, who presented to border guards a forged Lithuanian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Pakistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, two – of Ukraine and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Ukraine
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for United Arab Emirates, who is banned from leaving the country, was detected. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of Estonia, two - of Ukraine and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland and one – of Tajikistan.
