On Saturday, November 25, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13702 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 25, officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to ten citizens of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia and one - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan and one - of Georgia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 citizens of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan

and one – of Germany.
