On Wednesday, November 27, 1 person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5333 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Italy entered Latvia, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as  entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

seven citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Serbia, one – of Azerbaijan and one of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 15 persons - five citizens of Uzbekistan, four – of Russia, three – of Vietnam, two - of India and one – of Serbia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, six – of Uzbekistan, three - of Latvia, three – of Lithuania, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Moldova.
