On Thursday, November 28, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5345 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including: entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners. At the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Estonia, two – of Moldova and four – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - one citizen of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Belarus, one - of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Romania, one – of Germany and one – of Sweden.
