On Sunday, November 3, 48 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5165 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Russia, four – of Moldova and one – of Lithuania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Mongolia and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of USA, one – of Estonia, one – of Mexica and one – of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Lithuania, three – of Estonia, two – of Russia, two – of Germany, one – of Latvia, one – of Belarus, one – of France, one – of Hungary, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Sweden.
