On Saturday, November 30, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5345 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, a citizen of Poland, who presented to border guards a forged Polish identity card and driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents and for concealing one’s identity. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. While at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

four citizens of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by three citizens of Kazakhstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for United Kingdom, whose travel documents were not valid for travel to United Kingdom, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Israel and one – of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Bulgaria.
