On Friday, November 4, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
32 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- two foreigners with forged documents were detected
one citizen of Ukraine who presented a forged driver’s license of Ukraine to the border guards at the “Vientuļi” border control point, meanwhile, during the passengers’ profiling at the “Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Iraq who presented a forged passport of Italy to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.
- one wanted person has been detained
at the „Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at “Vientuļi”, “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki” and the “Riga” Airport border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in a possession of a valid visa or residence permit and one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. For security reasons, eight citizens of Latvia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their countries of origin.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by 12 foreigners
five citizens of Uzbekistan, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Tajikistan, and one citizen of Great Britain were detected at the “Pāternieki”, “Terehova” and the “Riga” Airport border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeding duration of stay specified in a visa or visa free regime, no valid visas or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations by a citizen of Great Britain were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Latvia
at the “Riga” Airport border control point, four citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid travel documents required for entering Great Britain were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by two people - one citizen of Estonia and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - four citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Latvia, three citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Belgium, one citizen of Italy, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Serbia, and one citizen of Germany.
