On Saturday, November 4, 48 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13098 persons have been stopped during this year.
A total 406 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On November 4, officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
at the„Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during profiling of passengers, one citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who presented to border guards a forged French identity card, was detected; as well as at the Ventspils Unit, during profiling of passengers travelling by the ferry, one citizen of Lithuania, who presented to border guards a forged vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one - of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit and one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Four more citizens of Belarus and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, and one citizen of Latvia departing for Marrakech without valid travel document (document registered as stolen or lost), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Austria, one – of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
