On Tuesday, November 7, 40 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13215 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 407 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On November 7, officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Georgia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons – 10 citizens of Turkey, two – of India and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Kosovo.
