On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 57 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

19 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to eight foreigners

at “Terehova” and the “Riga” Airport border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Azerbaijan, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia, and one citizen of Belarus, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; and one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his travel and stay. For security reasons, one citizen of Russia was denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their countries of origin.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by six foreigners

two citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Azerbaijan, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Kazakhstan were detected at the “Vientuļi” and the “Riga” Airport border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeding the duration of stay specified in a visa, no valid visas or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations by citizens of Azerbaijan were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at the “Riga” Airport border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document (the document was reported as stolen or lost) was detected. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by 21 people - 13 citizens of Uzbekistan, five citizens of Estonia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of India, and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, five citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Serbia, and one citizen of Germany.
