On Friday, November 8, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5226 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Georgia, two – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Moldova, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, whose travel document was not valid for travelling to Russia, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Estonia, one – of Latvia and of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Kyrgyzstan, four – of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Moldova, two – of Portugal, two – of Germany, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
