On Tuesday, October 1, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4513 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Vehicle Technical Inspection Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized within the framework of administrative procedures.

  • 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen entered from Turkey, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Israel and one –of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one – of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Moldova was not initiated, the citizen of Russia was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, five citizens of Latvia departing for United Kingdom, whose travel documents are not valid for travel to United Kingdom, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – four citizens of Russia and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two - of Germany, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Macedonia.
