On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 48 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for three foreigners

at „Grebņeva” and the Airport „Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. For security reasons, one citizen of Russia was denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by nine foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Georgia and one citizen of Kazakhstan were detected at the „Pāternieki” and the Airport „Riga” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa - free regime). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of citizen of Georgia were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain and one citizen of Latvia departing for Dublin without a valid travel document (the document was reported as stolen or lost) were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by nine people - four citizens of Turkey, three citizens of Lithuania, one citizen of Nigeria, and one citizen of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - 10 citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Russia, two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Kazakhstan, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
