On Sunday, October 13, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4688 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents or documents of another person was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, profiling passengers arrived by ferry, one citizen of Lithuania, who presented to border guards forged Lithuanian ID card and driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one's identity and using forged documents. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 18 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points and Port of Riga, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Armenia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; to two citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven citizens of Russia (one of them is a seafarer), two – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for United Kingdom, who was not in possession of valid travel document, and one citizen of Latvia departing for Georgia, whose travel document was not valid for travel, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Lithuania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Kyrgyzstan, three – of Moldova, two - of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
