On Monday, October 14, 50 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and, Belarus, while a total – 4738 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one Czech citizen entering Latvia with a vehicle, who presented to border guards a forged Czech vehicle registration certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point and the Port of Liepaja, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia (one of them is a seafarer) and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan and three - of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - two citizens of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Norway and one – of Uzbekistan.
