On Saturday, October 15, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

30 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at „Grebņeva” border control point one citizen of Moldova who presented a forged driver’s license of Moldova to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, a forged document was confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 20 foreigners

at “Vientuļi”, “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki”, “Grebņeva” and the Airport “Riga”border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for seven citizens of Russia, one citizen of Belarus, and one citizen of the U.S., as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; eight citizens of Moldova, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay, as well as two citizens of Moldova, as foreigners are prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of Schengen zone countries. For security reasons, one citizen of Moldova was denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by two foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine were detected at the “Grebņeva” border control point for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa). People were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by six people - four citizens of Belarus and two citizens of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Georgia, one citizen of Kazakhstan, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Poland, one citizen of Serbia, one citizen of Uzbekistan, and one citizen of Sweden.
