On Sunday, October 16, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 55 offenders on both external borders and within the country.
38 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:
- two foreigners with forged documents were detected
at „Terehova” border control point one citizen of Russia, who presented a forged vehicle registration certificate of Ukraine to the border guards, and one citizen of Moldova who presented a forged driver’s license to the border Guards at the „Grebņeva” border control point, were detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, the forged documents were confiscated.
- entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for 15 foreigners
at „Vientuļi”, „Terehova”, „Grebņeva”, „Pāternieki” and the Airport „Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for three citizens of Moldova and one citizen of Armenia, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; four citizens of Moldova, four citizens of Tajikistan, and one citizen of Georgia, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. For security reasons, two citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by eight foreigners
five citizens of Russia and three citizens of Ukraine were detected at the “Grebņeva”, “Terehova”, “Pāternieki” and “Silene” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa - free regime, no valid visas or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of one citizen of Russia were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Latvia
at the Airport “Riga” border control point, two citizens of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain were detected. Additionally, two minor citizens of Latvia departing for Tbilisi who did not have their other parent’s notarized consent to leave the country independently were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by one citizen of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Romania, and one citizen of Bulgaria.
