On Thursday, October 17, 54 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and, Belarus, while a total – 4910 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of India, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); while at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, three – of Kazakhstan and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Moldova and two – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 15 persons – 11 citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of India, one – of Syria and one – of Sweden.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one - of Moldova, one – of Poland and one - of Serbia.
