On Wednesday, October 2, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4513 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 18 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries). While at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for United Arab Emirates, who does not have notarized parental consent to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 18 persons – ten citizens of Ukraine, four – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – ten citizens of Ukraine and four – of Moldova.
