On Friday, October 21, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 50 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

32 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at „Vientuļi”, „Terehova”, „Silene” and „Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Moldova and one citizen of Belarus, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; three citizens of Moldova, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. For security reasons, four citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by three foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Terehova” and the Airport „Riga” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa, no valid visas or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of one citizen of Ukraine were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at „Pāternieki” border control point, one citizen of Latvia without a valid travel document was detected. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three people - one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Lithuania, and one citizen of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - six citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, and one citizen of Sweden.
