On Saturday, October 22, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 55 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

31 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at “Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Germany who presented a forged driver’s license of Poland to the border guards, was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. A forged document was confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings. 

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 20 foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki” and “Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Russia, and one citizen of Ukraine, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; eight citizens of Moldova and four citizens of Ukraine, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. For security reasons, three citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by two foreigners

one citizen of Belarus and one citizen of Ukraine were detected at the “Terehova” and “Silene” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in a visa or visa - free regime). People were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid travel documents required for entering Great Britain were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by seven people - four citizens of Estonia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Great Britain, and one citizen of Finland.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - seven citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Uzbekistan, and one citizen of Tajikistan.
