On Sunday, October 22, 90 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12205 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 379 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On October 22, officials of the State Border Guard detected 24 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Estonia and one - of Finland.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 6 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Serbia.
