On Tuesday, October 22, 28 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and, Belarus, while a total – 4952 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Moldova, two - of Russia, two – of Belarus and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Ukraine was not initiated, the other citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Belarus, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons - seven citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Nigeria and one – of Norway.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Lithuania, four – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Belarus, one – of Georgia and one – of Moldova.
