On Tuesday, October 24, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12293 persons have been stopped during this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, three persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours.

A total 387 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On October 24, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner were not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

two citizens of Great Britain were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Manchester, who was not in possession of valid for travelling to Great Britain document, and one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Belgrade, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – two citizens of Senegal, two – of Finland, two – of Tajikistan and one - of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Belarus, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
