On Thursday, October 24, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and, Belarus, while a total – 4961 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country.
21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners have a Schengen entry ban (they are not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one - of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons - three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, two – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of India and one – of Tajikistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Italy, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Greece, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Ukraine and one – Germany.
