On Wednesday, October 25, 77 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 12370 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 387 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On October 25, officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, as well as to two citizens of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Tajikistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point three citizens of Latvia departing for London, who were not in possession of valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, and one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Hurghada, who did not have the notarized consent of his parents to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – five citizens of Iraq and one - of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 5 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – one citizen of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of China.
