On Thursday, October 27, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

34 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at “Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Moldova who presented a forged driver’s license of Moldova to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. A forged document was confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings. 

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 21 foreigners

at “Vientuļi”, “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki” and “Grebņeva” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Tajikistan, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; eight citizens of Moldova, three citizens of Tajikistan, and two citizens of Ukraine, as foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. For security reasons, three citizens of Russia and two citizens of Ukraine were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by four foreigners

four citizens of Ukraine were detected at the “Pāternieki” border control point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded duration of stay specifies if a visa - free regime). People are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Latvia

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, three citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid travel documents required for entering Great Britain were detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four people - one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Paraguay, and one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - three citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Belarus, two citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Lithuanian, two citizens of Estonia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Serbia, and one citizen of Germany.
