On Friday, October 28, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 43 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

26 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at “Terehova” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine who presented a forged driver’s license of Ukraine to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. A forged document was confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings. 

  • one wanted person was detained

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia entering the Republic of Latvia who is wanted by the police was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Silene”, “Pāternieki”, and the Airport “Riga” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one citizen of Montenegro, as foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; and one citizen of Moldova, as foreigner could not justify the purpose and circumstances of his/her travel and stay. For security reasons, two citizens of Russia were denied entry into the Republic of Latvia. People were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by five foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Kazakhstan, and one citizen of Great Britain were detected at the “Pāternieki”, “Silene” and the Airport “Riga” border control points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded duration of stay specifies if a visa - free regime, no valid visas, or residence permits). The proceedings in the case of administrative violations of a citizen of Great Britain were not initiated; other people are subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Latvia

at the Airport “Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain was detected. At the “Pāternieki” border control point, one minor citizen who did not have the other parent’s notarized consent to leave the country independently, was detected. People were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by three people - one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Estonia, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 people were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - three citizens of Latvia, three citizens of Lithuania, two citizens of Belarus, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Moldova, one citizen of Serbia, one citizen of Ukraine, and one citizen of Germany.
